Disassembly of the core structure of a lip gloss tube
The choice of materials for each structural component of a lipstick tube
determines the final product's cost range, quality level, and market positioning.

Lip gloss tube brand positioning * material selection recommendations:
| Brand Positioning | Cap | Outer Body | Wiper / Fitment | Applicator | Wand Rod |
| 🏪 Budget / Mass Market | Colored PP | PP | PE | Standard Doe-Foot | PP |
| 💄 Mainstream Mid-Range | ABS Electroplated | Transparent AS | Silicone | Flocked Doe-Foot | PP |
| 👑 Premium / Luxury | Aluminum Alloy | PMMA | Silicone | Brush Applicator | Stainless Steel |
| 🌿 Sustainable Brand | Matte ABS | PCR PE | Silicone | Silicone Slant Tip | PP |
| 🚀 Emerging / Differentiated | Transparent Acrylic | Transparent AS | Silicone | Custom Specialty Shape | PC |
Choose the most suitable lip gloss tube brush head based on your brand strategy

Standard Doe-Foot Applicator
Core Value:It's not the most glamorous, but it's the most reliable. There's a reason why over 70% of commercially available lip glosses worldwide use this structure.
Advantages:Compatible with almost all mainstream lip gloss formulas. Medium to high viscosity lip glosses, opaque tinted lip glosses, and mirror-like high-shine lip glosses—as long as it's not a purely oil-based liquid formula, the standard duck feet brush head can reliably handle them without formula compatibility risks.

Flocked Doe-Foot Applicator
Core Value:While controlling costs, elevate the perceived value of the product for consumers.
Advantages:Deeply optimized for matte/high-pigment formulas. The capillary structure of the flocked fibers can absorb and evenly distribute high-concentration pigment formulas, preventing clumping when applied thickly, while providing sufficient friction to allow matte products to stay on the lips longer, reducing the frequency of touch-ups.

Silicone Angled Tip Applicator
Core Value:Ordinary brush heads: bristles deform when soaked in oil, trap dirt and are difficult to clean, and fray after a few uses—the silicone angled brush head is specifically designed to solve this problem.
Advantages:Completely solves the compatibility problem of brush heads with lip oil formulas. It does not react with the formula, does not change color, and does not degrade. Whether it's squalane, jojoba oil, or a high proportion of plant essential oils, the silicone angled brush head can stably handle them, and its lifespan is more than 3 times that of ordinary brush heads.
Matching the product to the brand's positioning and image
| Feature | PP (Polypropylene) | AS (Acrylonitrile Styrene) | ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) |
| Glossiness | Low (Waxy/Matte feel) | Excellent (High clarity) | High (Dense/Solid texture) |
| Chemical Resistance | Excellent (Resistant to acids, bases, oils, solvents) | Fair (Sensitive to alcohol/high fragrance) | Poor (Easily corroded by formulas) |
| Toughness/Durability | Superior (Flexible, anti-crack, drop-resistant) | Brittle (Hard but prone to cracking) | Balanced (Hard with good impact resistance) |
| Surface Processing | Difficult (Hard to plate/spray; paint peels easily) | Good (Easy for silk-screening/hot stamping) | Exceptional (Primary choice for electroplating/spraying) |
| Safety/Contact | Food-grade (Safe for direct formula contact) | Good (Safe for most standard formulas) | Not recommended for direct contact |
| Primary Use | Wipers, Inner liners, Soft tubes | Clear bodies, Clear caps | Decorative outer shells, Cap sleeves |
①PP – Cost-Effectiveness
Features: It's the most stable of the three materials. Due to its extremely high chemical stability, PP won't react no matter how complex your lip gloss formula is (containing high concentrations of volatile oils or fragrances).
Suitable Scenarios: For those seeking affordability, as the inner liner of high-end lip gloss tubes.
②AS – Premium Feel
Features: AS's high transparency perfectly reproduces the color of the lip gloss, showcasing a premium feel without the need for additional application.
Suitable Scenarios: Suitable for products with vibrant colors that need to be displayed through the tube.
③ABS – Versatile
Features: While opaque, it's the most versatile of all plastics. The cool metallic textures, gradient coatings, and painted finishes of high-end lip glosses are almost always based on ABS.
Suitable Scenarios: Decorative outer shells with a high-end metallic style or contrasting colors.
Q: Why do tiny cracks appear on the tube after my lip gloss is filled into an AS tube?
A: Analysis: This is what the industry commonly refers to as a "chemical compatibility" issue. While AS material is aesthetically pleasing, it is sensitive to certain fragrances, essential oils, or volatile solvents (such as isododecane). These components can penetrate the gaps between plastic molecules, creating internal stress and causing cracking.
Solution: A material compatibility test must be conducted before mass production (usually by storing in a 45°C constant temperature chamber for 4 weeks).
If the formula contains a high amount of active ingredients, it is recommended to use a PP inner liner + ABS outer shell structure.
Q: Will the lip gloss tube leak? How can I determine the seal?
A: Analysis: Leakage usually occurs at the tightness of the cap or when the inner wiper doesn't fit tightly with the tube opening. Solution: Vacuum test: Place the tube filled with the material into a vacuum drying oven, evacuate to -0.05 MPa and maintain for 5 minutes, observing for bubbles or overflow.
Check the material of the inner plug (usually LDPE or TPE). A high-quality inner plug should have a noticeable "damping feel" and be able to effectively scrape off excess material from the brush handle.
Q: Can ABS and AS material tubes directly contact the lip gloss?
A: Professional advice: AS: Can directly contact most common lip gloss formulas (provided they pass compatibility testing).
ABS: Absolutely not recommended for direct contact with the lip gloss. ABS has the worst chemical resistance; the lip gloss can easily corrode the plastic, causing discoloration, odor, or the release of harmful substances.
ABS is usually only used as an outer shell or cap.
Q: Will surface treatments (electroplating/painting) peel off over time?
A: Cause Analysis: Peeling is usually due to insufficient surface tension or material overflow corroding the coating.
Solution: Request the supplier to perform a cross-cut adhesion test (score a grid with a blade, then peel off with tape to see if paint peels off).
If it's ABS material being electroplated, confirm whether a UV protective layer has been applied, as this greatly improves abrasion resistance and sweat stain resistance.
Q: Why do brush bristles shed or apply product unevenly?
A: Analysis: Brush heads are typically made of flocked nylon fibers. Shedding is due to poor glue quality or an immature flocking process; uneven application is caused by issues with the brush head shape or the amount of product dispensed.
Key Points: Check the brush head's pull-out strength test report.
Choose the brush head based on the product's viscosity: thin lip oils are suitable for long-bristled brushes, while thicker lip glosses are suitable for short-bristled or silicone brushes.
